Paper title: IMPROVED HOMOGENIZATION FORMULA USED FOR SOFT MAGNETIC COMPOSITE MATERIALS

Author(s): LUCIAN PETRESCU, ADELINA BORDIANU, VALENTIN IONIŢĂ, EMIL CAZACU, MARIA-CĂTĂLINA PETRESCU,

Abstract:

Soft magnetic composite materials are very common in many applications these days. Sometimes simulations are needed in order to see how their properties (electrical, magnetic, thermal) can be improved. It is convenient and also cheaper to do this study before manufacturing them. In order to obtain the solution in a shorter time, homogenization techniques are often used. In this paper, a comparative study was conducted between two established formulas (Maxwell-Garnett and Sareni) and a new solution offered by the authors. The modelled composite material is considered made of magnetic nanowires (infinite cylinder) and a nonmagnetic matrix, while studying different densities of inclusions in the matrix. In order to highlight the advantages offered by the new here derived formula, 2D and 3D finite element simulation were performed using FEMM and COMSOL respectively.
