Abstract: In this paper, an attempt has been made to design a simple, compact and cost-effective transformer less stand-alone solar
photovoltaic (SPV) system for rural electrification purposes for the sustainable development of the area. To obtain the maximum
power from variable solar irradiance a buck converter controlled by the MPPT controller is utilized here. To maintain reliable
electricity supply the surplus generated energy by the PV array is stored in the rechargeable battery bank and conveys the
stored energy to the load during the unavailability of the solar energy. In this purpose, a charge controller is introduced here to
maintain the proper energy flow from source to load to avoid any bias. A transformer less inverter attached with a simple L-C
filter to convert dc to a single-phase ac with desired power quality as per IEEE 519, 1992 standard.
