Abstract: The static hystereses of Somalloy 500 and OL steel have been determined using a new laboratory device. This novel equipment
has an 8-figure shaped magnetic core, two dc coils, powered by a set of electrical currents, whose values are chosen, in order to
obtain a null magnetic flux in the median yoke. To control the zero value of the magnetic flux it was used a special median core,
with flux concentrators and an air-gap, in which a Hall sensor is placed. Using the specific values of the two coils’ currents, the
hysteresis cycle and the normal magnetization curve are computed. In order to decrease the computation time, a magnetic
circuit branch model is used, having the magnetic flux versus magnetomotive force φ(um) dependence on each branch obtained
by solving a set of non-linear media magnetic field problems. B-H non-linearity is treated by polarization fixed point method
(PFPM). In order to obtain high values of flux density in the tested sample, it is placed between two magnetic flux concentrators.
