Paper title: MAGNETIC FIELD – FLOW INTERACTIONS IN A MINIATURE ELECTRIC POWER TRANSFORMER WITH MAGNETIC NANOFLUID CORE AND SOLENOID TYPE COILS

Author(s): ALEXANDRU MIHAIL MOREGA, MIHAELA MOREGA, JEAN BOGDAN DUMITRU,

Abstract:

This paper presents a notional miniature transformer (MT) with solenoidal windings, fabricated in MEMS technology. The magnetic core is made of super-paramagnetic nanofluid. Under working conditions magnetization body forces may occur, resulting in complex, steady state flows in the fluid core, which consists of complex, theedimensional recirculation cells. To understand these complex interactions, we formulate a mathematical model and solve it by numerical simulation. The results outline details of the fluid flow – magnetic field interactions. Another objective of this paper is the analysis of the lumped parameters (inductances and capacitances) of the MT.
