The material processing with the aid of electron beams solves great topical problems, wherever conventional techniques failed or proved to be inefficient. The electron beams have many special properties, which make them particularly well suited for use in materials handling. This paper presents the electron beam system principle and the perspectives for improvement of the material processing. High quality electron beam control can be made using digital equipments. Two control problems will be presented in the following paragraphs: focus distance and target position point.
