Abstract: Super-orthogonal and super-quasi-orthogonal space-time trellis coding is seamlessly
combined with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) to improve the
performance of broadband wireless mobile communication systems. Quadrature
amplitude modulation (QAM) is used on all OFDM subchannels. The transmitter is
equipped with two antennas when using super-orthogonal space-time trellis codes
(SOSTTCs). When the transmitter is equipped with four antennas, super-quasiorthogonal
space-time trellis codes (SQOSTTCs) are used. The receiver first acquires
the channel state information (CSI) and then decodes each OFDM frame using the
Viterbi algorithm. We perform system simulations using a multiple-input multipleoutput
(MIMO) Rayleigh fading channel model.
