Abstract:

This paper presents the dynamic characteristics of the transverse flux linear motor (TFLM) with permanent magnet (PM) excitation, which has E-shaped core. Because of the inherent feature of TFLM with PM excitation that the flux flow path is threedimension, the solid type stators and mover cores are used. In case of adoption of solid type stators and mover cores, as the motor speed is increased, the more core loss will be increased compared to lamination mover cores. So the dynamic performance of motor will be decreased at high speed. The power factor and core loss of E-shaped core type TFLM with PM excitation are investigated in this paper.
