Abstract: Synchronized phasors measurements is a modern technology with various applications
in power system monitoring and control. This paper presents the application of
synchronized phasors measurements to produce more accurate state estimator models.
The approach consists in solving the optimal phasor measurement unit (PMU)
placement problem in a system that originally has only traditional measurements. The
optimisation problem was approached using a genetic algorithm-based method and the
IEEE 14 bus test system.
